Tom-
I love that this poem is a question. So often sadness is not an absolute thing. It's something that sneaks up on us, and we're unsure of it. Where did it come from? Why is it here? Why am I feeling so blue? Am I really feeling as blue as I think I am? And most of all, did I do this to myself?
Such power in so few words. Nicely done!

Hi, John. Thanks for the good words. Yes, I wonder if the sadness is something I've done to myself, being a firm believer that between stimulus and response, we have a choice. Yet why do I sometimes feel enveloped? Hmmm.

Tom, I've never been to you blog before, but this speaks to a situation in my life, and I thank you for it.

Songbird, thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you found something of use. Most of the time words are words, so it is a joy when they are also useful.

And it got me to stop my silent blog-browsing tonight and leave you a hug. I don't know how much of a choice it is sometimes. But it helps to feel warmer, for sure, before the coat comes off.

Thanks, Beth. The visit, and the hug, are appreciated. I spent the day calculating final grades for my Lakeland course, three more to go, and I'm DONE. That will lift the spirits.
