Saturday I went to Iowa
for a presentation at a bookstore. As I stopped for gas on my return trip at Colfax, just east of Des Moines, the woman I paid at the counter said: "The temperature is 100 degrees out there." It was similarly hot here on Saturday - up to 90 degrees at least. Yesterday the temperature was about 60 degrees, the morning is cool and rainy. Don't be surprised when the world is what the world will be. Enjoy the difference a day makes. All pudding is not a meal.
The speckled surface of pond in the diffuse morning light, barely a reflection, barely shadow in the ripples.
The flag at the cemetery is hanging down, wet. The asphalt shines. Low clouds scud along, barely above the trees. When I get to work, the flag there blows east to west.
