We Have Made the Move
Yeah, we've moved from The Middlewesterner at http://middlewesterner.blogspot.com to The Middlewesterner at http://middlewesterner.typepad.com . The Blogspot site will remain as is into the foreseeable future.
Partly, the decision to make the change has been about reliability. When I hit "Publish" I want it to publish. And when I want to write a post, I don't want to wait and wait til there is server time available to find my blog.
Partly, it has been about features, especially "Categories." Even I'm starting to have a hard time locating stuff on the old site. The Categories feature here will help in that regard, I trust.
I suppose I can say that the reason I moved is because I'm here to stay. I have posted an amazing amount of my Vagabond Journals since I started blogging in February, mixed in with a variety of other materials - primarily my "Morning Drive Journal" entries and my postings from Ivan Burgess's Echo Echo. I expect being able to keep these strands separate will be useful. Further, I want to be able to put materials about one of my focus communities into a folder with that community's name on it, so if you want to read everything I've written about Smith Center, Kansas, well, there it is under "Smith Center, Kansas."
I apologize for not having my blogroll re-created here yet. That will come as I have time.
This is an experiment that I'm hoping will prove to be a permanent solution. I really do have a hard time dealing with change, so it's not easy being me right now: there's often a difference between what the head knows is the right thing to do and what the heart wants. For your part, as we go along, you can let me know if this seems to be an improvement from the reader's perspective.
Okay - here we go! Hold your hat.
