This is what the man
[Pat Robertson] who was there says:
I mean he [President Bush] was sitting there like "I'm on top of the world." And I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war. Deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, "Mr. President, you better prepare the American people for casualties."And this is what the woman [Karen Hughes] who wasn't there said:And the President said: "Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties."
"I cannot imagine that that conversation would ever take place. I've never heard the president say anything of the sort.... So I can't imagine whether he misunderstood, or what happened. But I'm certain that the president did not say that remark."How is it that the Bush campaign can keep spinning stuff up out of thin air and half the people surveyed seem to keep believing it? 1984 + 20, perhaps?
