Sun and a little warmth on Friday and the weekend have gotten rid of last week's snow. Winter's trash is clearly revealed once again. It is a bright, blue day. There was a moon against paisley clouds in the western sky when I rose at 4:30 a.m. An orange wash in the eastern sky as the sun came up. March is a spring month, we're told. That means the worst of winter is over, I guess. If what we've had for winter is as bad as it gets, it doesn't get bad at all. No frost on the windshield. The morning is almost balmy - at least it's mild enough to confirm spring is coming. There is still ice on the pond, still a great sheet of ice down there. A county snow plow comes through downtown Fairwater. The driver seems to know where he's going, but I know it's not snow he's after today. A wash of clouds to the west and north. Geese cut the sky in small flocks. On a side road, a fishing shanty sits tilted where a tire on the trailer hauling it has blown or gone flat. Fishing shanties are coming off the lake, I guess. Sitting there on the side road, this one definitively marks the end of winter.
