Training walk: we were interrupted by other duties 14.5 miles into our planned 18 mile walk. We actually walked 14.5 mi., 3 hr., 14 min., 2 sec.
At this pace we could finish a marathon in under six hours. However, there's no guarantee yet that we could keep it up for 26.2 miles. It is fun to walk with a partner. When I started to flag, Jessica pushed; when Jessica fell back, I pushed. It was like changing of geese at the point of the vee. Jessica says I need to point out that our walk last Friday was my best 12 mile time to date; our walk on Saturday was my best 6 mile time to date; and that we were on course for my best 18 mile time. She says she would attribute part of my speed on these walks to my "turbo-booster" (farting). I'm not sure the turbo-booster helped all that much. We have decided that when we actually walk the marathon, we'll start off with the first, slower flight, so that we don't feel pressured to overextend ourselves: "This is supposed to be fun," Jessica says.
