We've gone back to
Central Standard Time. That the sun comes up "earlier" is offset by the earlier darkness. If we lived by the sun rather than the clock, this changing light and darkness would not been an issue. We are too far from the farm, aren't we?
It is a mild morning, a muskiness in the air almost as if it is spring coming, not winter. I'll enjoy the day either way. Overhead a haziness with the certain blue behind it.
There is no wind in the flag at the cemetery.
The farmer with flowers at Five Corners is parked there looking at them; as I pass through the intersection he pulls away. Perhaps he knows his flowers have shined with all the beauty we'll see this year; there is nothing more he can do for them. Everything turns in its time, and the farmer has turned away.
The farmer can't stop
turning the soil over
for a better look.

on Standard Time, the farmer goes
to look at his flowers.
